Subject: Requesting Your Water Meter at the Right Time
The Charlotte County Utilities and Community Development Departments would like to remind the building industry about the appropriate time to request a water meter installation. Ensuring the property is ready before requesting a water meter will streamline the building process and help reduce Charlotte County Utilities’ backlog for meter installations.
A property is not ready for a water meter if:
- The lot has not been cleared or any fill dirt placed.
- The lot has not been surveyed.
- The setbacks have not been marked.
To schedule a water meter installation, email NewInstalls.Status@CharlotteCountyFL.gov after your slab passes inspection, with the property address as the subject line, and provide the permit number and anticipated Certificate of Occupancy date.
If you would like to schedule your water meter installation prior to your slab being poured, please ensure the property has been surveyed and have the grade line on the survey stakes to ensure the water meter box is installed at the correct height.
Prior to construction, Charlotte County Utilities asks you to please view your locate sheets for infrastructure location.
By following these guidelines, you can help ensure an efficient process and reduce delays in meter installations.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to helping us serve Charlotte County effectively.
